Robert Thomas "Bob" Rogers
Mr. Robert Thomas “Bob” Rogers, 34, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013, in Bay Springs, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 22nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Moore officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rogers was born August 31, 1979, in Louisville, MS, where he was well-known and loved by many. He was a member of Hight Assembly of God Church in Noxapater, MS. He graduated from Winston Academy in 1997. He worked at Taylor Machine Works and was the manager of Hemphill Furniture Company before moving to bay Springs, MS, where he worked at Hol-Mac Corporation as a purchasing logistical planner. He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Rogers; and his grandparents, Robert Melvin “Billy” Hemphill, and Berlin Thomas and Clara Eaves Rogers.
He is survived by his daughter, Madison Kaye Rogers, who was the light of his life; his mother, Cassandra Hemphill; his brothers, Brian Alan Rogers, Jonathan Bradley Rogers, and Austin David Foster; his grandmother, Margaret Hemphill Phillips, and a host of family and friends who loved him very much.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Mr. Joseph Myers Cornelius, 32, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, MS. Joe was born July 8, 1981, in Starkville, MS. He was an LPN at Eglin Air Force Base, where he worked with autistic children. He was an Army veteran and had been stationed in Korea at one time.
He is survived by his mother, Nelda Lee Blaine of Louisville; his father, Lynn Cornelius of Louisville; two sisters, Donna Gordon of Columbia, TN, and Tracy Walker of Philadelphia, MS; two brothers, Jimmy Collins of Birmingham, AL, and Josh Cornelius of Louisville; his partner, Tim Wilcher of Philadelphia; his nieces and nephews, Brandy McKinley, Kristyn Gordon, Johan Collins, Kaleb Cornelius, Ethan Walker, Macayla Walker, and Jessica Walker; his great nieces and great nephews, Orlando Walker, Zander Walker, Wyatt Eubanks, and Cheyenne McKinley; and a host of friends.

Elvis L. Graves
Elvis L. Graves, lifetime resident of Ackerman, Miss, passed away on September 14, 2013, at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Benson Graves. Mr. Graves is survived by four children: Martha Schiffman (Robert), Nell Bowman (Bill), Benny Graves (Deanie), Kay McBee (Andy), eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Appreciation is expressed to devoted caregivers: Daisy Miller, Shirley Watts, and Comfort Keepers.
Mr. Graves was a graduate of Ackerman High School; Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, Mississippi; and Mississippi State University with a degree in agronomy. Elviswas a veteran of World War II. He was in the Signal Corp and was a radio repairman for communication teams. His overseas service was in China and Burma.

He was an active member of Ackerman Baptist Church for 82 years, serving as a deacon and in many other capacities.

Mrs. Nellie Earlene Howard, 79, died Saturday, September 14, 2013, At OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 17, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Frazier officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Howard was born February 17, 1934. She was a retired supervisor for Spartus Corporation, and a member of Zion Chapel Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Algie Howard; her parents, Emma Jones and James Robert Quinn; one son, Walter Dale Howard; and three brothers, Will R. Quinn, Robert C. Quinn, and James R. Quinn.
