Judy was born in Louisville on March 6, 1946, to Clinton and Ella Jean Clement Shumaker. She was a graduate of Louisville High School and a member of South Louisville Baptist Church. The beach was her absolute favorite place to be; and yet, she also enjoyed being in the mountains. Judy enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading her Bible and her Bible commentary. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren; and she always enjoyed any time she was with them.
Judy is survived by three sons: Timothy Ray Hemphill and wife, Jo Katherine, of Louisville; Scott Hemphill and wife, Janet, of Cookeville, Tennessee; and Mike Hemphill and wife, Delana, also of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma” to her five grandchildren: Cruise (Amber) Hemphill, Tyler Hemphill, Brandon Hemphill, Josh Hemphill, and Michael Hemphill; as well as her great-grandson, Israel Hemphill.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hemphill, and an infant brother.
