Mrs. Judith Hall McLeod passed away on March 7, 2022, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at Porter Funeral Home chapel in Louisville at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11 with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. McLeod was born August 10, 1944, in Louisville. She was a 1962 graduate of Louisville High School and attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mississippi State College for Women and her Master’s Degree from Mississippi State University. (Notwithstanding the excellent education she received from these stellar universities, she was a die-hard Ole Miss Rebel!)
Judy was a career educator touching the lives of many students. She retired from the Louisville Municipal School District in 2007. Judy was also active in community affairs and served four terms as a member of the Louisville Board of Aldermen. She was honored as the Grand Marshall of the 2021 Louisville Christmas Parade. She was a past president of the Louisville Rotary Club and the Louisville Garden Club. She was a member of the Nanih Waiya Chapter of DAR and a lifetime member of First Methodist Church in Louisville.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt Hall and Elizabeth Vickers Hall; husband, Robert C. McLeod, and her two sons, Robert H. “Hank” McLeod and James William “Will” McLeod, as well as her brother, Donald C. Hall.
She is survived by her grandson, Hank Cohen McLeod, and brothers, James Hall (Ann) of Madison, MS, Bill Craft of Los Angeles, niece, Johanna Hall of Savannah, Ga., nephew David Gookin (Holly), and niece, Kathy Gookin of Louisville.
Serving as pallbearers are Danny Jewell, Will Hill, Eugene Crosby, Sean Holdiness, Milton Houston and Taylor Harris.
Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Land, Ryan Jewell, Parish Jewell, David Gookin and Giles Ward, along with members of the Louisville Rotary Club.
