L. D. Kelley, Jr., age 77, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 27, 2020, at his residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at Hight Assembly of God Cemetery with Rev. Tom Bentley officiating. The family encourages everyone to follow COVID-19 precautions.
L. D. was born July 9, 1943, to L. D. Kelley, Sr. and Gracie Duran Kelley. He was a graduate of Noxapater High School and he was a member of Hight Assembly of God Church in Noxapater. For 43 years, he was dedicated to his job at Taylor Machine Works as a diesel mechanic and foreman. He dearly loved his work family at Taylor’s as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
L. D. is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Bettie Warren Kelley of Noxapater, his daughter Lori Mills of Louisville, and his son Randle Kelley and wife Mignon of Mathiston, Mississippi. Also, he leaves behind three sisters Peggy (Earl) Yates, Shirley (Paul) Eaves, and Judy (James) Sloan. One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw Jr.” to his six grandchildren: Jody (Jaimee) Kelley, Danica (Jonathan) Steed, and Chase, Hannah, and Grace Busby, and Jonathan (Jennifer) Mills; as well as nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson Kelley Payton Mills, and his son-in-law Payton Kevin Mills.
