Patricia Hope Quinton Farris

Patricia Hope Quinton Farris, affectionately known as “Honey” to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Mississippi Baptist Hospital at the age of 76.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Inez and Truman Quinton.

Honey is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Joe P. Farris; her sons, Everett Watkins of Key West, Florida and Thad Watkins (Anne Cassell); grandsons, Thad Jr. and Allen, all of Hoover, Alabama. She is also survived by her daughter, Cindy Crochet of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Chelsea and Parker; daughter, Missy Nettles (Jamey); grandchildren, Kate, Joshua, Jack and Abby of Athens, Alabama. Patricia is also survived by her sister, Martha Graham of Decatur, MS and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Patricia grew up in Jackson, MS, attended Murrah High School, and continued her studies at Mississippi College for Women, then graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in English.
Honey devoted many years of her life giving back to her community by teaching in the Winston and Madison County school systems where she is remembered and beloved by so many of her pupils. Honey never hesitated to help any student in need. She loved spending her personal time traveling, tending to her plants and garden, gathering with friends and attending various activities of her children and grandchildren. She loved playing bridge, attending the Jackson Symphony, the New Stage Theater and took great pride in staying connected and involved with her extended family across the region. She thoroughly enjoyed her yearly visits to Key West, accompanied by her husband, “The Colonel”, both making a lasting impression on the new friends she made there.

Honey lived her life to the fullest and when the time came, she left us all quietly in the night, which is exactly what she wanted.

Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.

In addition to flowers, to honor her love of animals, memorials may be made to The Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi at 395 Mayes Street, Jackson, MS 39213 or arfms.org.
