Mrs. Laverne Gregory, 95, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013, in the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday, April 14, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at
Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lundy and Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony BaptistChurch Cemetery.
Mrs. Gregory was born on September 23, 1917, to Milton and Leona Barnhill Schoolar. For 63 years, she was a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church and she was a homemaker. She also loved gardening and reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Serita Creekmore; her son, Gale Gregory and wife, Frances; and her sister, Pearl Robertson all of Louisville. Mrs. Gregory also has three grandchildren: Chris Creekmore and wife, Bonnie, of Lauderdale, Mississippi, Alicia Burns, and Kevin Gregory and wife, Nicole, all of Louisville. She has nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gregory was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Gregory; her brother, Rudolph Holton; two sisters, Enid Kirk and Janie Holton; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Chris Creekmore, Jonathan Creekmore, Kevin Gregory, Mark Dillard, Shawn Holdiness, Bill Rogers, and Larry Gregory. Arrangements are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS.
