Mrs. Jones was born on October 6, 1919, to Joe and Mary Lucas Hamill. She was a Christian affliated with Beth Eden Lutheran Church and a homemaker. She answered the call to serve her country during World War II by working in Prairie, Mississippi, and in Cordova, Tennessee, at the Gulf Ordinance Plant, which manufactured ammunition. She also worked in the shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, during World War II. Mrs. Jones loved growing flowers and she worked incessantly in her yard. She truly had a “green” thumb…she could just break off a piece of any flower, root it, and raise beautiful flowers.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband of 67 years, Rabel Jones, who resides in the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Kosciusko; her daughters, Faye Flake and husband, Jimmie, and JoAnne Harsh and husband, Dan, all of Louisville. She is also survived by three grandsons: Stephen Flake and wife, Ann; Chris Flake and wife, Quintina; and Eddie Harsh and wife, Crystal. Mrs. Jones has three great-granddaughters: Josie Cate Flake, Jenna Flake, and Lilly Grace Harsh, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ken Harsh; her parents; her sister, Pauline Kinard; and her brothers, Oakley Hamill and Curtis Hamill.
