Mrs. Ethel Atkinson, 99, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Winston Medical Centerin Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday, August 12, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Davis and Rev. Justin Wilcher officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Presbyterian Cemetery in Van Vleet, Mississippi.
Mrs. Atkinson was born on July 27, 1913, in Louisville, Mississippi. She was a member of EvergreenBaptist Church in Louisville and the Home Demonstration Club when she lived in Houston, Mississippi.
Mrs. Atkinson is survived by her daughter, Patricia Atkinson Norsworthy and husband, Milton, ofCleveland, Tennessee; her son, Louis Kenneth Atkinson, Jr. of Louisville; and her brother, Earnest Clark of Boulder, Colorado. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Melanie Norsworthy; Susan Ellis and husband, Michael; and Sarah Norsworthy; as well as two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Jackson Ellis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Atkinson, Sr.; her parents, Johnny and Sally Bennett Clark; her sister, Wilma Sanders; and her brothers, T. D. Clark; Marvin Clark; and Ervin Clark.
