Mary Demetrius Hardy

Graveside service for Mary Demetrius Hardy will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 3 p.m. from Coldwater Cemetery with Rev. Jason Gross officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 2 p.m. from Coldwater Church. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Hardy, 85, of Preston, MS, died Monday, October 30, 2023.

She was a native of Ellison Ridge Community of Winston County and graduated from Ellison Ridge High School where she was the class Salutatorian and was a gifted basketball player. She was a longtime resident of Flora, MS, where she worked several years at the Bank of Flora, after moving to Neshoba County in the mid 1990’s she operated Mary D’s Steak & Seafood restaurant in the Coldwater Community. Ms. Hardy was a member of Hope Baptist Church and attended Flora Baptist Church while living there.

Survivors include daughters, Sherry Goode of Louisville and Angela Hardy of Lawrence, MS; sons, Ricky Hardy (Suzanne) of Flora and Michael Hardy of Louisville; grandchildren, Nick Hardy (Jean), Nathan Hardy (Rebecca) and Holly Goode; great-grandchildren, Melonie Hardy, McKenzie Hardy, Maria Hardy, Matthew Hardy, Kent Parks, William Robinson, Bodie Robinson, Julia Hardy, Marie Hardy and Margaret Hardy; sisters, Johnnye McMillan and Rebecca Bush (Tom) all of Louisville; brothers, T.P. Sullivan, Jr. of Louisville, MS, Paull Sullivan (Patsy) of Hattiesburg, Tim Sullivan of Noxapater; a host of nieces, nephews and their families.

Ms. Hardy was preceded in death by husband, Claudie Hardy; parents, Tilton and Marsie Sullivan; sisters, Dorothy Walker, Dorlene McCaffrey, Delaine Robbins, Danyce McArthur and Norma Algood; brother, Euvern Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Parks and Aurora Costello.
