Robert Allison “Mitch” Mitchell, Sr., 85, of Louisville, MS passed away December 26, 2022, at his home with family. Visitation is 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Stonewell Cemetery in Ethel, Mississippi. Rev. Ralph Poole will officiate.
Robert was born April 11, 1937, to Louis Fellows Mitchell and Betty Edna Thompson Mitchell in Ethel, Mississippi. He graduated from Ethel High School. In 1955, he moved to Michigan and retired from G.M. after 30 ½ years. Robert moved back to Louisville eighteen years ago. He was a member of Ethel Baptist Church. He loved to garden and do woodwork. He was a jack of all trades.
He is survived by son, Robert Allison (Janice) Mitchell, Jr. of McCool, Mississippi; daughter, Rebecca Ann Smith of Guntown, Mississippi; sister, Betty Templeton of Ridgeland, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Fellows Mitchell and Betty Edna Thompson Mitchell; his wife, Vivian Mitchell; two sisters, Auntie Jane Mitchell and Sadie Kate Bell.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Bridges, Robert Templeton, Paul Templeton, Jim Templeton, Marvin Bell, and George Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Stonewall Cemetery Fund or Bear Creek Cemetery Fund.
