Mr. James Paul “Peter” Long, 77, died October 4, 2014, at his home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 7th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Peter was born August 19, 1937, in Louisville, MS. He retired as a welder in pipeline construction, and was owner of Long Tree Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Virginia and James Oscar Long; two daughters, Judy Williamson and Rebecca Edwards; a grandson, Mike Edwards; a sister, Margaret Strickland; and two brothers, Thomas A. Long and Charles Long.
He is survived by his wife, Hayes Yarbrough Long; sisters, Jenny Eaves, Judy Coward, and Barbara Hindman; brothers, Jack Long, Ronnie Long, and Donnie Long; four grandchildren, Shawn Edwards, Josh Edwards, Ben Matthews, and Megan Hartness; and two great grandchildren, Layla & Wesley Matthews
