Martha Gennett Miller

Martha Gennett Miller, 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at her home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and ""Mar-Mar."" She was born July 31, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was a woman after God's own heart, reflecting His character to fellow members of West Heights Baptist Church, her family, friends and to hurting and hungry people she met. She showed others how to love God first, then her family, then others and herself last. She never let anyone leave her house hungry for food or good spirits.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Dr. David Hamilton and Bro. Dan Young will be officiating. Burial will be in the West Heights Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughters, Dihan McCoullough (Jerry) of Louisville, Jannie Moorman (Keith) and Pat McCord (Ricky), both of Pontotoc; son, Tommy Miller (Mollie) of Pontotoc; grandchildren, Todd McCoullough (Angela), Kelly Wilson (Scotty), both of Louisville, Molly Barton (Brett) of Frederick, Md., Frankie Moorman (Angie), Sherry Moore (Shawn), John Ray McCord (Michelle), James Miller, all of Pontotoc, Adam Miller (Lisa) of Newport, Va., and Scottie Sypolt (Gary) of Kingwood, W.Va.; 24 great-grandchildren; special loved ones, Kerrie Miller, Kathy Duff and Kasey Kidd, all of Pontotoc; sister, Rachel Ford of Pontotoc; and sister-in-law, Francis Hooker of Pontotoc.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Miller, whom she married in 1946; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Fortenberry; and brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Fortenberry.Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Tupelo or West Heights Baptist Church of Pontotoc.
