Gerald M. Nason, Sr., 77, a retired carpenter, passed away Tuesday January 21, 2014 at the OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. Mr. Nason was born June 11, 1936 in Sturgis, MS. He was a member of the Wake Forest Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army.
Funeral Services for Mr. Nason will be held on Friday January 24, 2014 at 11AM at the Wake Forest Baptist Church near Sturgis, MS. Interment will follow in the Wake Forest Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Tri Nason and Rev. Bruce Lattimer will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday January 23, 2014 from 5PM until 8PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Pallbearers for the service will include: Austin McClelland, Heath Ray, Daniel Ray, Chandler McCafferty, Matthew Salley, and Josh Crocker. Honorary Pallbearers will be: David Oswalt, Danny Ray, and Mark Coleson. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.
Mr. Nason is survived by his son, Buster Nason of Sturgis, MS, his two daughters, Lynn McClelland of Sturgis, MS and Gina Compton of Sturgis, MS, five sisters, Theople Hurst of Kentwood, Louisiana, Vitula Edmonds of Starkville, MS, Annette Allen of Florida, Patsy Wilson of Madison, MS, and Bobbie Magee of Kentwood, Louisiana. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. Mr. Nason was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Nason, brothers, John D. Nason, II, James Nason, RaymondNason, and Mike Nason, sisters, Pauline Jackson, and Dorothy Gill, and his parents, John Draper and Gussie (Weaver) Nason.
