Jo Anne Hobby Luke, 69, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at her residence in Brandon, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the
Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014, with Dr. John Cofer officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Winston County.
A native of Winston County, Mrs. Luke was born on June 2, 1944, to Ruby Young Hobby and Leon Hobby. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Flowood, Mississippi; and she was a retired Administrative Assistant at the Mississippi State University Diagnostic Lab. She also worked for many years at the Winston County Welfare Office.
Survivors are her husband of 49 years, Glenn Luke, and her son, Robert Glenn Luke, both of Brandon. Mrs. Luke is also survived by her sister, Lynn Watson and husband, Carey, of Lufkin, Texas; and her brothers, Bo Hobby and Lonnie Hobby both of Louisville. She has three grandchildren: Molleigh, Kasey and Kiley Luke; a special nephew, Zach Hobby, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Luke was preceded in death by her parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Virgle Luke, James Luke, Benny Luke, Larry Luke, StaceyLuke, and Jimmy Luke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Cheshire Abbey Animal Rescue, P. O. Box 16330, Jackson, MS 39236.
