Clara was born in Texas to James William Huckaby and Stella Agnes Breaux Huckaby on December 4, 1930. She married Dr. John Schoolar on December 20, 1947, in Winston County, Mississippi. She worked as a bookkeeper at Hinds General Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Clara dearly loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother. They served as missionaries in Southwest Africa and in Okinawa, Japan. No matter if they were on the mission field in Africa or Japan or if they were in the United States, she loved teaching Bible studies with any ladies group. Clara was an accomplished writer and some of her writings were published.
Clara is survived by her loving husband of 76 years, Dr. John Schoolar, of Louisville; his daughter, Johnnie C. Moss, of Moseley, Virginia; and son, Roger Schoolar and wife, Judy, of Hamilton, Ohio. One of her greatest joys was her three grandchildren: John Brian (Carla) Schoolar, Lauren A. (Will) Showalter, and Madison J. Moss (Zane Chao); as well as her five great-grandchildren: Kayla Schoolar, Anna Schoolar, Melissa Schoolar, Kinsley J. Showalter, and Tessa J. Showalter. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Agnes Mae Darbonne.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Schoolar, Zane Chao, Greg Schoolar, and Melissa Schoolar.
Our family would like to express their appreciation to Mom’s wonderful caregivers: Bertha Haynes, Vera Hathorn, Roxie Loving, Mary Thompson, and all previous caregivers. Their gentle and compassionate care gave her much comfort.
Paul was born December 2, 1947. He worked in many trades but his passion was being a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, cracking jokes about everything and spending time with his family.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debbie Conn; his six children, Cristy and Branden Nail, Cyndi and James Spence, Jason and Denise Conn, Sylvia Conn Rachel Sullivan and Lynn Hemphill. One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to his twelve grandchildren; Lexus Riggs, Madison Riggs, Grayson Spence, Emily Loyd, Laikyn Nail, Ricky Stewart, Clayton Conn, Cameron Conn, LaRae Cotton, Eric Hemphill, Charlie Hemphill and Crickett Hemphill. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Alton and Hubert Conn; and his granddaughter, Megan Bramlett.
Serving as pallbearers are Jason Conn, Clayton Conn, Ricky Stewart, Branden Nail, Wesley Loyd, and Caleb Chandler.

After Steve and Jackie both graduated from Ole Miss, Steve served in the US Navy, and the couple traveled around the United States. Early on, Steve promised Jackie that they would settle in the town of her choice, and once Steve retired as a Captain in the Navy, the couple moved to Blairsville, GA, where they bought their dream home. Jackie lived her remaining years surrounded by the beauty of Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Like her mother before her, Jackie loved nature and delighted in the beauty of Earth’s majesty. Jackie was a gifted artist who captured precision in faces, flowers, and scenery. Her talent originated as a portrait artist, and years later, she captured landscapes in paintings and photography.
Jackie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Snowflake Bowie Patterson, William Fancher Patterson, Joseph Benjamin Carlisle, and Joanna Tomlinson Carlisle; her mother, Virginia Carlisle; her father, Jack Carlisle, and her sister, Virginia Ann Carlisle. She is survived by her husband, Steve; her two children, Christopher Scott Evans (Edie) and Leslie Carlisle Evans; her brother, William Thomas Carlisle (Vickki), two grandchildren, William Trotter Evans (21) and Silas Evan Trahan (10); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Evans will be held at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held before service time beginning at noon.
Jason was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: James William Jenkins, Claire Jenkins Tharp and step-grandfather, William Marion Tharp; maternal grandparents: Samuel Walter Johnson and Betty Cathrine Johnson; and his parents, James Dewayne (Jim) Jenkins and Phyllis Ann Johnson Jenkins.
Jason was born on April 11, 1970, in Winona, Mississippi. Raised in Weir, Mississippi, Jason graduated from Weir High School in 1988. He was a member of the Weir Lions’ football team that won the Class 1A State Championship in 1984 and 1985. Although he graduated from Mississippi State University with his Bachelor of Accounting, he was an Ole Miss Rebel at heart. Jason worked in various occupations eventually running his own business, Guns and Roses Pawn Shop in Ackerman, Mississippi.
Jason attended Sapa Baptist Church. He had a strong interest in the outdoors, from hauling hay in his younger days to developing a knack for getting tractors and other equipment stuck and hunting with his friends and daughter. He was a member of the Starkville Hunting Club and enjoyed shooting IDPA. He enjoyed watching his daughter play sports and instilling in her a love of the music from the 70s and 80s. His quick wit and loyalty earned him many lifelong friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Coleman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Giles was born in Winston County, Mississippi, on July 9, 1936, to Mike and Frances Metz Peterson. He was a member of Liberty Universalist Church and he was a Mason. Giles was a talented musician; he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He especially enjoyed bluegrass music and he was instrumental in introducing his grandson to music and playing instruments as well. Giles enjoyed his horses as well as sitting on the front porch of Peterson’s Store with Chris Beasley visiting with those who stopped by. In his early years, he was a photographer for the Jackson Daily News. Later, he established his logging business. Giles like to follow his nephews as they played team sports and he was known to be able to fix anything. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army.
Giles is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Patti Dawkins Peterson; his son, Thomas Peterson, both of Louisville; and his daughter, Dawn Peterson Reynolds, of Starkville, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Granddaddy” to his grandson, Matthew (Emily) Reynolds. He also leaves behind his brother, Michael (Gina) Peterson; and his sister, Nancy Haggard; in addition to his loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Giles was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Frank Peterson; and his daughter-in-law, Melanie Peterson.
Serving as pallbearers are Joe Buck Peterson, Pat Peterson, Peter Peterson, Ronnie Flake, Randy Rives, and Tommy D. Rives. Honorary pallbearers are James Edmond and Chris Beasley.

Clyde Thomas Williams, of Ackerman, MS, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at his residence in Ackerman, MS. Clyde was born on May 25, 1934, in Choctaw County, MS, to Charlie P. and Minerva (Bagwell) Williams. He was 89 years old. Clyde was a retired US Air Force Veteran after 22 years of service, and after retirement, worked in various manufacturing facilities (Belwood and Flexsteel). He also worked a number of years at Gilliland’s Supermarket. He was a member of Antioch Community Church.
Funeral services will be held at Antioch Community Church nearAckerman, MS, on Saturday,February 17,2024 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Antioch Community Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clyde is survived by his son, Mike Williams of Ackerman, MS; 2 daughters, Patricia (Dave) Morton of Nashua, NH, and Charli Williams of Burke, VA; 2 grandchildren, Sam and Edith Lacagnina of Burke, VA; and a sister, Dean Fondren of Memphis, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Williams, his parents, and a sister, Charlene Bennett.

He was a member of Flower Ridge Methodist Church. Allan was a Master Machinist for the Spartus Corporation and he was a licensed cosmetologist. He was active in his community by serving as a member of the Civil Defense Team; and he, along with his late wife, was the former owner of the Ole Rebel Café for many years. He and his wife enjoyed fishing together; and, he enjoyed cooking. He was also a 32nd-degree Mason and served as president of the Winston Shrine Club for many years. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Allan is survived by his son, Greg Forsythe his wife, Penny, of Louisville; and his son-in-law, Joe Crocker, of Harrisville, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Grandpa” to his grandchildren and he was known as “Pops” to many: Phillip Forsythe, Michael Crocker, Adrienne Forsythe, and Austin Forsythe; as well as two great-grandchildren: Kimberlynn Forsythe, Gage Forsythe, and was looking forward to the birth of his third great-grandchild, Owen Forsythe soon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cleta Forsythe; his daughter, Diana Crocker; his parents; and his siblings: Wally Forsythe, Irene Forsythe Anson, and John Forsythe. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Crocker, Austin Forsythe, Joe Crocker, Carlos Castillo, and Josh Massey. Memorials in honor of Allan may be given to Nowell-Massey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of a marker.
