Jimmie Sue Hatcher, 92, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ackerman, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 9th, at Harmony Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Lundy officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Harmony Cemetery.
Jimmie Sue was born in Louisville, Mississippi, on July 6, 1930, to Austin and Bernice Taylor Edwards. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Jimmie Sue loved gardening and enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses. She also enjoyed keeping her house updated; she was always ready to paint and hang wallpaper! Jimmie Sue was an excellent cook and was known for her homemade bread that she often gave as birthday gifts. She was also a very talented seamstress who could make anything.
Jimmie Sue is survived by her children: Patty Graham and husband, Stan of Pensacola, Florida; Mike Hatcher and wife, Tonia of Kosciusko, Mississippi; Bonnie S. Creekmore; Pam Blackwell and husband, Steve; Jennifer Kaye Kight and husband, Wes; and daughter-in-law, Betty Lynn Hatcher, all of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Mamaw” to her grandchildren: Lisa (Mark) Shaw; Amy Hatcher; Barry (Carla) Graham; Leigh Ann (Eddy) Watts; Emily (Greg) Smith; Michael (Kayla) Hatcher; Sheridan (Jeffrey) Mitchell; Brad (Rachel) Creekmore; Ben (Alisha) Creekmore; Corey (Liz) Blackwell; Brent Blackwell; Kimberly (Tony) Lopez; Kelly (Jason) Hursh; Johnny Kight; and Jake Kight; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Covington and Joyce Springer; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends
.Jimmie Sue was preceded in death by her husband, John “A. W.” Hatcher; her son, John Austin Hatcher; her daughter, Anita Faye Hatcher; granddaughter, Cindy Yarbrough; son-in-law, Jeffrey Creekmore; her parents, her sister, Louise Hamilton; and her brother, Joe Edwards.
