Roger T. Kirk, 86, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 18 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Kelsey officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service in Memorial Cemetery.
Roger was born August 6, 1934, to Alvin Earl and Enid Claire Schooler Kirk in Winston County, Mississippi. He was of the Baptist faith. Roger retired from Taylor Machine Works after working 24 years as a machinist. He answered the call of his country by serving six years in the United States Army.
Roger is survived by his wife of 61 years Gloria Kirk, his daughter Peggy Pearson both of Louisville, and his son Phillip Kirk and wife Lena of Cedar Hills, Texas. He is also survived by his siblings: Kathryn Kirk, Lavada (Bobby) Robertson, Earl Kirk, and Sam (Barbara) Kirk. One of his greatest joys was being “Grandpaw” to his two grandchildren Dana Pearson (Richard Cagle) and Paul Pearson (Kayla Colbert) and his five great-grandchildren: Noah and Nikki Reed, Caleb Pearson, and Mia and Zoe Cagle. He also leaves behind his niece Julie Kirk and nephew Edward Kirk. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Alvin Ralph Kirk, his sister Lola Kirk, and two sisters-in-law Sally and Betty Kirk.
Serving as pallbearers are Paul Pearson, Sr., Paul Pearson, Jr., Richard Cagle, and Noah Reed.
