Gloria was born July 9, 1948, to Bun and Beatrice Smith Jackson in Rockingham, North Carolina. She enjoyed deer hunting as long as her health allowed. Gloria was an excellent seamstress who loved to make clothing, curtains, and furniture coverings. She was always remembered for “her big blue eyes and her smile.”
Gloria is survived by her husband of 54 years Bobby Buskirk of Preston, Mississippi. She is also survived by her three daughters: Audra Buckley of Ennis, Texas, Tracy Grabher and husband Scott of Preston, and Brandi Hemphill and husband Justin of Magee, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma” to her nine grandchildren: Cara Murphy, Andrew Buskirk, Chelsie Copeland, Candi (Kevin) Carter, Joshua (Kayla) Watkins, Cati Grabher, Jamie (Austin) Snow, Dalton Carter, and Caylee Carter. She also enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Aurora, and Anna Copeland, Jaythen and Stella Higginbotham, and was looking forward to the birth of another great-grandchild in September. Gloria leaves behind her siblings: Corena Gray, Dara Perkins, Louise Moore, Edward Jackson, Eugene Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Bobby Jackson, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Alice Jackson, Lera Highfill, Joanne Clayton, and Charles Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in honor of Gloria be given to fightingblindness.org or to kidneyfund.org.
Gloria’s family would like to express a special thanks to Bailey Fulton for her kind heart and all her help during these last few months. She made an exceptionally hard time easier for us.
