Mrs. Janell Taylor McWhirter, 71, died Friday, July 3, 2015, at her home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 6th, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rob Paul officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Janell was born July 16, 1943, in Union, MS. She was a graduate of East Central Junior College, and retired from the Winston County Department of Human Services and the Health Department. She was a member and pianist at First Baptist Church since 1964. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Burlon Taylor. She is survived by her husband, James N. “Jimmy” McWhirter of Louisville; a daughter, Karen Pearson of Louisville; a son, Barry (Tonya) McWhirter of Louisville; one granddaughter, Cassi Pearson; two sisters, Lynette (W.A.) Richardson of McKinney, TX, and Brenda (Danny) Thomas of Southaven, MS; and a brother, Ronnie (Glenda) Taylor of Batesville, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Jeff Thomas, Jason Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Hailey Ward, Jeff McWhirter, Ricky Hill, Chad Oliver, Kyle Fulton, and Greg Taylor.
Memorials may be made to the Youth or Music Fund at First Baptist Church, Louisville, MS.
