Edward C. Prisock

On July 30, 2015, Judge Edward C. Prisock went to his heavenly home after a short battle with pancreatic and liver cancers. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Throughout his illness, he expressed to his family the need to make the most of their lives, completing the earthly mission God had for them. He expressed feeling closer to God than ever and his comment “Jesus is ready for me” gave comfort to his family.Ed was born on February 23, 1941, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to the late Neal and Athalia Jones Prisock. He lived all of his life in Louisville, Mississippi, where he met and married his beloved wife of 44 years, Edna Joy Caperton Prisock. He was a graduate of Louisville High School, Mississippi State University, and University of Mississippi Law School.

Ed, known as a strong leader, was dependable and honest. As a veteran, he considered life in public service his calling. He practiced law in Louisville several years before he was elected Chancery Judge for the 6th District serving for 30 years.

Ed enjoyed working in his shop making tables, chairs, and doors for family, and toys for children. His last project was helping plan a lake and cabin for friends and family to enjoy.

Ed especially loved teaching the children’s catechism in the church and did so for many years. He was instrumental in the founding and early direction of both Grace Christian School and Covenant Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Up until his death, he was an elder at Grace Presbyterian Church in Starkville, Mississippi.

He is survived by his wife Edna Joy, son Robert (Reagan), daughter Jessica (Zachary) Madison, and one grandchild Mary Grace Madison all residing in Louisville. He is also survived by one niece Jo Ellen (Johnny) Cantrell, residing in Inman, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his sister Ellen(Jim) Prisock Maxwell.

Visitation for Edward Prisock, a beloved and respected member of the community whose hope was in his Savior, Jesus Christ, will be held on Saturday, August 1 from 4-6 PM at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville and Sunday, August 2 at 2 PM at Grace Presbyterian Church in Starkville followed by the funeral service at 3PM, the Rev. Bill Heard officiating. The graveside service will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville.
