Katy Peterson Thomas, 79, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Choctaw Residence Center in Choctaw, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Griffin officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas was born on November 23, 1934, to Deva Froshour Dawkins and Henry Dawkins. She was a member of Pugh’s Mill Methodist Church; and she was retired from Classic Cleaners where she served as a clerk.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband, Charles Thomas; her four grandchildren: Brittany Butler and husband, Lamar; Tim Peterson; Jessica Peterson; and Justin Peterson. She is also survived by one great-grandchild, Bentley Butler; and by two sisters, Mary Tallent Chaffin and Dean Singleton. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Eddie James Peterson and Elwin McHann; her son, Thomas Peterson; her parents; her brothers, Frank Dawkins and Donald Dawkins; and her sister, Ruby Gene Kemp.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Dawkins, Jeff Dawkins, Jimmy Peterson, Scott Singleton, and Rusty Tallent.
