Mrs. Berlyn Murl Cannon Jones, 92, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013, in Katy, Texas, after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Friday, September 13, 2013, from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Rev. Mark Holmes officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born August 16, 1921, in the Shiloh community to Joe Minnie and Ola Mae Childs Mayo, she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Betty Chancellor and husband, Van, of Katy,Texas, and Mary Holmes of Long Beach, Mississippi. Her life was blessed with four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband, Byron Cecil Cannon; her parents; three brothers—Vernon, Henry and Hubert Mayo; two sisters, Nora Bagwell and Myrtle Triplett; and her son-in-law, Mike Holmes.
