Elvis L. Graves, lifetime resident of Ackerman, Miss, passed away on September 14, 2013, at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Benson Graves. Mr. Graves is survived by four children: Martha Schiffman (Robert), Nell Bowman (Bill), Benny Graves (Deanie), Kay McBee (Andy), eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Appreciation is expressed to devoted caregivers: Daisy Miller, Shirley Watts, and Comfort Keepers.
Mr. Graves was a graduate of Ackerman High School; Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, Mississippi; and Mississippi State University with a degree in agronomy. Elviswas a veteran of World War II. He was in the Signal Corp and was a radio repairman for communication teams. His overseas service was in China and Burma.

Mr. Graves retired in 1982 as a feed microscopist from the State Chemical Lab at Mississippi State University. He had previously worked as a seed analyst for the State Seed Testing Lab.
He was an active member of Ackerman Baptist Church for 82 years, serving as a deacon and in many other capacities.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, September 17, at 11 am at Ackerman Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent to the building fund at Ackerman Baptist Church, PO Box 277, Ackerman, MS 39735.
