Don was born January 11, 1958, to Howard and Ruby Manning Boatner in Georgia. He loved being outdoors; he especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. Don dearly loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a hard worker; whether it was his company, DC&L Drilling or if he was working for Yates Construction.
Don is survived by his children: Donald H. “Donny” Boatner, Jr. of Noxapater; Casey Boatner of Louisville; Lenny Boatner of Louisville; and Chelsey Boatner of Noxapater. One of his greatest joys was being “Pop” to his grandchildren: Laney Boatner, C. J. Boatner, Breanna Boatner, Bailey Boatner, Swayze Boatner, Abby Laine Boatner, Ruby James Boatner, Dallas Boatner, Hollis Walker Richardson, Dendy Boatner, Tanner Boatner, Lana Raye Boatner, Beau Boatner, Libby Jo Boatner, and Annie Brooke Boatner. Don is also survived by the mother of his children, Stacey Boatner; and his nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Lesley Whitehead Boatner; brother, Martin Boatner; and sister, Bertha Lloyd.
Serving as pallbearers are Donny Boatner, Casey Boatner, Lenny Boatner, C. J. Boatner, Justin Kilpatrick, and Bobby Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Hollis Walker Richardson, Robby Lloyd, Bobby Lloyd, Johnny “Cornbread” Coleman, Clyde Kilpatrick, Jay Estes, Jessie Howard, Gary Boatner, Richard Boatner and Yates Construction.
