Carol Ransom Clark, 83, passed away on February 29, 2012, at her home in Jackson. Visitation will be held Friday, March 2nd, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephens Reformed Episcopal Church, in Flowood, Mississippi, with services immediately following, 10:30 to 11:00. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Jackson.
Carol was born May 30, 1928, in Reading, Pennsylvania to the late Phyllis and Percival Ransom. She is a graduate of Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, Virginia, where she met Bill Clark who was attending VMI. He owned and operated Observa-Dome Labs in Jackson, a company which manufactured domes housing telescopes for both the military and private customers. They married in 1949 and moved to Jackson where she was a member of DAR and Le Déjeuner Luncheon Club. Carol grew up spending summers in Cape May, New Jersey and continued the tradition with her children. Her love of the Coast continued, as she and Bill retired in Pass Christian for twenty-six years until Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home. They were members of the Pass Christian Yacht Club
Carol's abiding faith sustained her throughout her eleven year battle with ovarian cancer. She met with her weekly prayer group until a few weeks prior to her death.
Carol is survived by two daughters, Melanie McNeel (Niles), Louisville; and Carol Hammond (Lee), Jackson; and one son, Randy Clark, Jackson; grandchildren Jason McNeel (Joanna), Ridgeland; Taylor McNeel (Jessica), Ocean Springs; Caroline Hearnsberger (Jimbo), Starkville, Peter Hammond, Jackson, Andrew Hammond, Jackson; and two great grandchildren.
