Michael “Mike” Slawson, 49, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, MS, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Fancher and Rev. Wayne Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Sandtown Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS. Mike was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He is survived by the love of his life, Bonnie Thomason of Louisville, MS; a son, Kevin Motley of Meridian, MS; two daughters, Kimberley Motley of Brownville, TN, and Montana Thomason of Louisville, MS; two grandchildren, Ava Rosson of Brownville, TN, and Faith Motley of Meridian, MS; mother, Catherine Slawson Vaughn of Union, MS; one sister, Renee Higginbotham of Noxapater, MS; three brothers: Randy (Susan) Slawson of Greenbrier, TN; Paul (Jessica) Slawson of Henderson, KY; and Wayne (Jennifer) Slawson of Bristol, VA; very special aunt, Lexie Barnes Craft of Raleigh, MS, and Mary Campbell of South Fork, NC; three uncles: John Barnes of Chicago, Illinois; Robert Barnes of Langley, OK; and Eddie Barnes of Ackerman, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Slawson, and grandparents, Bill and Ethel Barnes and Henry and Velma Slawson. Pallbearers will be James Marvin Higginbotham, Courtney Fondren, Michael Hughey, Aaron Hughey, Vernon Brown and Justin Kitchens.
