Mrs. Owana Hatcher, 78, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 29th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Mr. T.J. Jennings officiating. Interment will be in Mars Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.Mrs. Hatcher was born February 22nd, 1933 in Winston County. She was the retired owner of Stallo Grocery, and a member of Plattsburg Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sambo Hatcher, a son, Paul Hatcher, and her parents, Warren Levi Deweese and Nancy Blount.
She is survived by her sons, David (Diane) Hatcher, of Philadelphia, and Barry Hatcher, of Noxapater; a brother, Warren Lee Deweese, of Noxapater; 7 grandchildren, Leigh Ann White, Lindsey Joiner, Josh Hatcher, Paul David Hatcher, John Hatcher, Duey Hatcher, and Katy Hatcher; and 8 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roy White, William White, Josh Hatcher, Paul David Hatcher, John Hatcher, Duey Hatcher, Charlie Mac Joiner, and Rusty Suttle.
