She was born August 8, 1943, the oldest of five children, to Pete and Mary Cockrell Mobley of Louisville. Affectionately known to those closest to her as, “Granny Judy.” Granny Judy was known as a warm and friendly lady who never met a stranger. Her family would often find her sitting on a bench, making a new friend, smiling her warm smile while wearing her signature pink lipstick. She enjoyed quilting, country music concerts and traveling, especially to the Smoky Mountains where she enjoyed craftsman fairs, flea markets and antiquing. Judy was a phenomenal cook, but she was renowned for her famous chocolate pie. After Judy retired from Triple V Corporation, she proudly served as an Army wife to her husband Terry as they traveled across the country while he was on active duty. After moving back to Louisville in the late nineties, Judy opened her own daycare called, “The Pea Patch,” where she lovingly took care of numerous babies and children. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by those who loved her and whose love they will always cherish.
She is survived by her husband Terry Landrum of Louisville, daughter Melba (Boo) Reed of Louisville, two sons Darvin (Tasmine) Hemphill of Millport, AL and Ronnie (Robin) Hemphill of Livingston, AL, her eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Boo Reed, Austin Reed, Austin Hill, Dale McClellan, Steve McClellan, and Eddie Jernigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village of Nanih Waiya.
