Don was born February 6, 1935, to Ulysses and Julia Savage Richmond in Leake County, Mississippi. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Walnut Grove, Mississippi. He enjoyed attending the Neshoba County Fair where for many years he owned a cabin. Don also loved to ride motorcycles and he collected and enjoyed working on antique cars. He also enjoyed dancing and working in his vegetable garden.
Don is survived by his wife Joy Richmond of Louisville. He is also survived by five step-children: Billie Littrell Ward of Collins, Mississippi, Paul Littrell, Mark Littrell, and Stacey Littrell all of Louisville, and Penny Riser and husband Robin of Purvis, Mississippi. Don also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Don Richmond, II, his parents, and his siblings: Wanda Burns, James Barnett, and Doris Ellis.
Serving as pallbearers are Ralph Clark, Melvin Gibson, Mark Littrell, Paul Littrell, Stacey Littrell, and Jason Moore. Memorials in honor of Don may be given to New Hope Cemetery Fund, Walnut Grove, MS.
