Mr. John Hubert Dempsey, 77, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Samuel Ashley Smith

Mr. Samuel Ashley Smith, 41, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Meridian, MS. Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 1st at 6:30 P.M. at Campground United Methodist Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Haggard officiating. Interment will be in Campground Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith was born February 23, 1972, in Louisville, MS. He was a construction worker, and a member of Campground United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Sue Smith.

He is survived by his father, Joe Smith; two brothers, Tim (Lisa) Smith and Marty (Gina) Smith; his niece, Carmen Smith; and his nephew, Tyler Smith, all of Louisville, MS.

Pallbearers will be Tim Smith, Marty Smith, Tyler Smith, Matt Smith, Scott Smith, and Jared Estes.

Memorials may be made to Campground United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Maxine McCool, 86, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Winston MedicalCenter in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.at Noxapater Methodist Church in Noxapater, Mississippi, on Saturday, August 31, 2013, with Rev. David Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Noxapater Methodist Cemetery.

Clarence Anderson "Andy" McBrayer

Mr. Clarence Anderson “Andy” McBrayer, age 66, of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. A native of Louisville, MS and a graduate of Louisville High School, Andy retired from Mitchell Engineering (CECO) after 44 years of service. Andy married the love of his life, Carol Ann, in 1966 and moved to Columbus to start a family.
He was a longtime member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church where he served as the Church Clerk for many years. He was a wonderful example of what a husband and daddy should be and loved his family. He was a quiet and unassuming man who served his Lord and is with him now. Andy was a man of his word who had character and integrity, teaching his children to always be kind and respectful to others.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Ann Hisaw McBrayer; son, Scott McBrayer (Nici) of Homewood, Alabama; and daughter, Kimberly McBrayer Eubanks and her husband, Shay, of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his two beloved granddaughters, Kaitlin and Jordyn; 3 brothers, Eddie McBrayer, J.W. McBrayer, and Albert McBrayer; 5 sisters, Betty Fisher, Ann Jenness, Martha O’Shia, Margie Brown, and Peggy Pace. Andy also had an extreme closeness and love with his wife’s brothers and sisters and extended family who will miss him greatly.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home located at 903 College Street in Columbus. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Louisville, Mississippi at Crystal Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, the same church where they were married.

Mrs. Stefanie Moody Burchfield, 34, of Louisville, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Visitation will be at South Louisville Baptist Church in Louisville, on Friday, August 16, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. onSaturday, August 17, 2013, at South Louisville Baptist Church with Rev. Stefanie was born on January 4, 1979, to James and Teresa White Carter. She was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church and she was a former member of the Louisville Junior Auxiliary. Stefanie was an X-Ray Technologist at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, Mississippi.

Stefanie is survived by her husband, Jason “Bull” Burchfield; her sons, Jett Burchfield, Taylor Moody, and Brody Burchfield all of Louisville; and her daughter, Bella Burchfield of Flowood, Mississippi. She is also survived by her parents, James and Teresa Carter ofLouisville; her sister, Kimberly Rogers (Todd) of Starkville; and her brother, James William “Jay” Carter, Jr. also of Louisville. Stefanie is survived by her grandparents, Hershel and Bonnie Carter Burks; Gertie White; and Betty and Bud Shinn; her nephews, Landen Rogers and Will-Corben Rogers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and friends. She was preceded in death by grandparents, J. W. Carter and Jack White; her father-in-law, Allen Ray Burchfield; her mother-in-law, Wanda Shinn; her grandmother, Clara Burchfield; and Woody and Jeremy Moody.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Richardson, Will Moody, Brock Baker, Michael Miller, Miles Johnson, and Sam Allen. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dale Chancellor, Lane Johnson, D. K. Boydstun, Clayton Forrester, Kyle Stewart, and Patrick McGivney.

Marion Edwin Hisaw

Mr. Marion Edwin Hisaw, 73, died Friday, August 2, 2013, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 5th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Mr. T. J. Jennings and Rev. H. D. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Ellison Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home.
Mr. Hisaw was born June 18, 1940, in Winston County. He was a 1958 graduate of Nanih Waiya High School, and was a retired salesman for Fair Propane. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, the Gideons, and served as Deacon of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Beth Fuller and Robert Edwin Hisaw; a sister, Fannie Hisaw; and a brother, Robert Berlin Hisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Herrington Hisaw of Louisville; a son, Robert Charles Hisaw of Louisville; a daughter, Anna Beth (Clint) Hanson of Columbus, MS; sisters, Gayle Persons of Shuqualak, Bertie Jo Hisaw of Louisville, Joy (Van Dorn) Ming of Louisville, and Dorothy (Joe) Gutierrez; a sister-in-law, Carolyn J. Hisaw; and a brother, Embree Hisaw of Philadelphia.
Pallbearers will be Delbert Ming, Brent Gutierrez, Larry Cockrell, Marshall Winstead, Reed Simpson, and Stevie Herrington. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Persons and the Deacons of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae Dawkins and Edwin Rives; and her brother, Brooks Rives.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Gully of Louisville, MS; her daughters, Janet (Jim) House of Jackson, MS, and Beth (Barton) Wynn of Tupelo, MS; her son, Brooks (Melanie) Gully of Starkville, MS; her sister, Helen Jones of Louisville, MS; and her grandchildren, Chase Wynn, Daniel Wynn, Kathryn Wynn, Laura House, Bob House, Helen House, Anna Rives Gully, and Audrey Gully.
