Eric Lee Yates, 48, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at his home in Louisville. Graveside services and interment will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3 at Whitehall Cemetery with Rev. Heath Hillman officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi.
Eric was born December 21, 1971, to Bobby and Mary Ann Yates in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville. Eric enjoyed working in Retail Management and was always ready to visit with his customers. He was really a soft-hearted “teddy bear” who loved his nieces, nephews, and younger cousins very much. Eric was known as “Big Daddy” to most of his friends with whom he enjoyed grilling and watching football games. He was an avid fan of Mississippi State football and the Pittsburg Steelers.
Eric is survived by his parents Bobby and Mary Ann Yates of Louisville, his sister Rhonda Yates Walker of Picayune, Mississippi, and his brother Corey Yates and wife Amanda of Richland, Mississippi. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Laine (Michael) Nanney, Brooke Walker, Malerie Yates, Corinna Yates, and Abram Yates, as well as his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eric was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Serving as pallbearers are Corey Yates, Abram Yates, Jason Wright, Jeremy Boler, Jason Carr, and Russ Nowell. Memorial contributions in honor of Eric may be given to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2500 N. State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.
