Mr. Todd, 84, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at his home.

He was a native of Winston County and longtime resident of the Mars Hill Community. He retired from U. S. Motors in Philadelphia. He was a cattle farmer and fox hunter. Mr. Todd was Christian by faith. He served in the U. S. Army and was a Mason.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Johnnie Todd of Plattsburg; and daughter, Christy Todd of Flowood.

Mr. Todd was preceded in death by parents, Hugh and Elsie Todd; and several brothers and sisters.

Margaret Evelyn Rogers Ming

Margaret Evelyn Rogers Ming entered her Heavenly Home on Feb. 18, 2018.

She was the daughter of James and Louie Hamm Rogers and born on July 26, 1935, in Louisville. Upon graduating in 1953 from Bond High School, she married Garland Ray Ming and started a family.

Margaret shared her love, grace, compassion and laughs with everyone she met. Her love of God, family and friends was infectious and she made lasting friendships in Brandon and Tylertown, Cantonment, Fla., and Vicksburg.

She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. G. Ray Ming; her daughter, Mickey Wiggins; and three brothers, Richard, James and Frank Rogers.

She is survived by two daughters, Suzi White (Mark) and Lori May, both of Vicksburg; two sons, Dickey Ming of Hurley and Wesley Ming (Neely) of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren, Curtis Wiggins (Abby) of Cantonment, Fla., Carla Gilmore (Jacob) of Molino, Fla., T.J. Brocato, Taylor Brocato and Christopher May of Vicksburg, Jessica May of Brandon, Mary Margaret (Molly) Ming and David Garland Ray Ming, both of Vicksburg; four great-grandchildren, Monroe and Sawyer Wiggins and Ella and Sydney Gilmore; as well as her sweet Gertie.

Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Riles Funeral Home with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by service at 1p.m. Graveside service will be at Murphy Creek Baptist Church in Louisville on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at 11 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Wiggins, Christopher May, T.J. Brocato, Taylor Brocato, Jacob Gilmore, Kevin Ming, Cecil Rogers, Lamar Wiggins and David Garland Ray Ming.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Barbara Rogers, Becky Rogers-Sneed, Bridget Rogers Walker and Gail Matthews.

James T. "Jim" Wood

Mr. James T. “Jim” Wood, Sr., 89, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 19th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Johnny Collins officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wood was born August 17, 1928, in Louisville, MS. He retired after 26 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Wood also worked as a postal carrier, at TRW, and as a cattle farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Wood; his parents, Edna Myres Wood and George Wood; four sisters, Lorene Wood, Lucille Wood, Zelma Earline Wood, and Esther Wood Duncan; and one brother, Walter C. Wood.

Jim is survived by two sons, James T. (Renee) Wood, Jr. of Destin, FL, and Scot Wood of San Francisco, CA; and one granddaughter, Megan Wood.

Pallbearers will be James Wood, Scot Wood, Greg Duncan, Jimmy Duncan, Ronnie Mitchell, Mark Donald, and Joe Morgan.

Betsy Ann 'Patti' Eichelberger

Mrs. Betsy Ann ‘Patti’ Eichelberger of Mt. Sinai Community, Louisville, MS passed away in her home with her children and caregiver on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the majestic age of 99. She was born, raised, and gave birth to all children on Mr. Sinai Rd. The visitation was from 12 noon – 6 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Mt. Sinai MB Church. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Mt. Sinai MB Church in Louisville, MS. with burial in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Rev. Danya Turner officiated, Rev. Lorene Guyse eulogized. 

Mrs. Eichelberger was the 211th person to register to vote during the voter re-registration of 1970 that enforced the Voting Rights Act of 1965. She was a member of Mt. Sinai MB Church since childhood serving as secretary, teacher and agent of the Mt. Sinai Burial Club as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for many years as a domestic servant after the death of her husband. She also worked for Spartus Clock Factory from 1969 until retiring in 1979. She was actively involved in Winston County Voters and Education League since 1966, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the former Mt. Sinai Burial Club, Friends of Dean Park, Inc., and Winston County Extension Office including the 4H-Club, and the Winston County TRIAD. At the age of 95 representing American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), she spoke to the legislators advocating for the rights of seniors for stay home care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Mary Elizabeth Knowles; her husband, William James Eichelberger; her siblings, Katie, Willie Bell, Estelle, Nannie, Mary Francis, Ida Bea, Inez, Bob, and Talmadge Hughes; five children, Claudell Weaver, Samuel, Joseph, Isaac, and Annie Lee Eichelberger; grandchildren, Charles Clifton, Jr., and Charlotte Rene Jones

Mrs. Eichelberger leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Paul (Rita), Clifford (Nancy) Eichelberger of Louisville, MS, and Clifton (Georgia) Eichelberger of Baton Rouge, LA; six daughters, Elmetra (Eddie) Patterson-Littleton, Janice (Tommy) Hopkins, Barbara Coleman, Gwendolyn and Lorenda Eichelberger of Louisville, MS, and Mattie (Melvin) Davis of Richmond, CA; five step-daughters, Marcella Hubbard, Ollie Walker of Oakland, Aurelia Eichelberger of San Francisco, CA, Ina Davis of Alameda, CA, Ruth Brown of Richmond, CA. She leaves (20) grandchildren, (27) great grandchildren, (7) great great grandchildren; a surrogate daughter, Rev. Lorene Guyse, caregiver for 11 years Wendy Harris (Cornelius), special friend, Billy (Sue) Shields.

The family wishes to acknowledge, with sincere appreciation the many comforting messages, prayers and all other expressions of kindness during the illness and death of our loved one. Special thanks to Dr. Samuel Suttle, Sta Home Hospice Staff and Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.

Shirley Ann (Vaughan) Threadgill, a retired business owner, of Ackerman, MS, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Choctaw Regional Medical Center, Ackerman, MS. She was born March 20, 1936, in Webster County, Mississippi to Arville R. and Ona Vaughan. She was a member of the Ackerman Church of Christ in Ackerman, MS.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Threadgill will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Ackerman Church of Christ in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be at Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston, MS.

Mrs. Threadgill is survived by 2 daughters-in-law, Jeannie Threadgill of Ackerman, MS, and Dorothy Threadgill of Maben, MS. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmy) Threadgill, her parents, and 3 sons, James, Don, and Danny.
