Chuck graduated S. D. Lee High School in Columbus in 1965 and he received his Bachelor degree in Business from Mississippi State University in 1969. He dedicated 40 years of his life to a successful career in manufacturing management, where he was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence. During his early retirement, he enjoyed serving in local mission efforts with First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Chuck was an avid Mississippi State University fan and proudly supported the Bulldogs. He inherited his love of dogs from his father, a devotion that remained with him throughout his life; his beloved dog was his constant companion and brought him great joy. Chuck enjoyed listening to music, but above all, his pride and joy were his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Karla Hatcher Harkins of Louisville; and two sons, Paul J. Harkins (Kelsi) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Matthew T. Harkins (Stephanie) of Gulfport, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Big Daddy” to his seven grandchildren: Laurel Anne Davis (Harrison), Mary McKenna Harkins, Lynn Elise Harkins, Holland Rose Askew (Hunter), Ava Riley Harkins, Houston Harkins, and Jackson Harkins. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Beth Cunningham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
