Franklin Lloyd Woodruff Sr.

Franklin Lloyd Woodruff Sr. passed away Thursday February 6, 2025 at home on his farm surrounded in prayer by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 9th, at Flower Ridge Methodist Church, with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until service time. Interment will be in Flower Ridge Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Franklin was born to Woodrow and Mary Alice (Lloyd) Woodruff April 30, 1944. He was a 1962 Graduate of Noxapater High School. Upon Graduation he joined the Navy. In September of 1965 he married his high school sweetheart Frances King Woodruff.

After the Navy, Franklin worked for AT&T and was a dairy farmer. He worked for Georgia Pacific Particleboard. After GP closed, he got his license to drive 18 wheelers where he drove for GP chemical plant, Lee’s Trucking and Fair’s. After fully retiring from driving trucks, he loved to drive the bus for Winston Academy. Franklin was a member of the Jaycees where he served as President. He was also a member for the SCV serving as the Camp Commander for the Capt. John M. Bradly Camp. He was a member of the Louisville Little Theater Group performing in plays and building sets. He enjoyed being with the Alasippi Rifles.

Franklin was an active member of Flower Ridge Church where he was a member of the choir. He loved to sing and sang at many functions over the years. Franklin’s greatest pleasure was being GrandPakka to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Franklin is preceded in death by his Parents and his wife.

He is survived by his children Franklin L. Woodruff, Jr. (Trudy), Marc Woodruff (Callie), and Beth Hemphill (Jason). His grandchildren Katie Shotts (Jay), Nathan Hemphill (Jessica Tanner), John Hemphill (Krista), Andrew Woodruff (Christana) and Richard Woodruff (Brittany). His great grandchildren, Avery and Thomas Shotts, Raelynn Woodruff and Jayden Hemphill. His bonus granddaughters Ashtyn Drury and Jaylee Loyd. He is survived by his brothers Bobby J. Woodruff (Barbara), Terry L. Woodruff (Karen) and sister-in-law Lou Eaves (Ronnie) along with a host of nieces and nephews.
