Richard Lynn Tennyson, age 70, passed away November 18, 2022, at his home in Ackerman, MS. Richard was born on June 21, 1952, in Starkville, MS. He moved from Mooreville, MS, to Ackerman after high school to work for his aunt and uncle at Ackerman Hardware. Later he was employed for over 30 years by the MS Department of Transportation. In earlier years, Richard was an avid softball player, hunter, and golfer. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather. He never met a stranger and he was a faithful friend to many. Richard served his country as a member of the 155th Armored Brigade and participated in Operation Dixie Thunder in support of Operation Desert Storm. Richard was a member of Chester Baptist Church.
Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pam Warner Tennyson, his son Rick (Paula) Tennyson, granddaughter Casi Tennyson, and step-grandson Devan Murphy, all of Ackerman. He was preceeded in death by his parents, RC Tennyson and Elaine Oxford, and his sister, Nita Hunt.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Chester Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS. Family will receive friends and visitors prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
