Angela Dawn Gay

Angela Dawn Gay, 46, of Louisville, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 6 at Rocky Hill United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Visitation will be the day of the service one hour prior to service time.

Angela was born September 11, 1975, to Deborah Ables Wilson and Kenneth Taylor in Louisville. In 2000, she received her degree in Nursing from Meridian Community College and spent her career at Winston Medical Center until unable to work due to health complications in 2014. Angela was a member of Rocky Hill United Methodist Church and was a lay speaker both locally and distantly for the United Methodist Church organization. She also enjoyed working with the youth at Rocky Hill. Angela was a lady of many talents: she enjoyed riding motorcycles, photography, and playing bass in their band. She loved music and attended numerous concerts from the East to West Coasts. Angela also loved to fish, work in her flowers and any yard work to make her yard beautiful. She liked to travel with her family and enjoyed visiting many places. Angela not only dearly loved her family and friends but even as she traveled to M. D. Anderson for treatments, she packed “Blessing Bags” to take to the homeless in Houston around the Medical Center. She continued to provide for residents in our local nursing home that she had “adopted.”

Angela is survived by her husband Hugh Gay and their daughter Morgan Gay both of Louisville. She is also survived by her mother Deborah Wilson, her father Kenneth Taylor both of Louisville, and her sisters Samantha (Whit) Williams of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Jessica (Eric) Wennberg of Anchorage, Alaska. She also leaves behind her in-laws Barbara Gay and David Holder, her sister-in-law Mary Margaret (Josh) Crowson, and her loving nieces and nephews: Cara and Cayden Crowson, Magen, Mallory, and Ryan Wennberg. Angela was preceded in death by her father-in-law Dr. Harry Gay, her step-father Toby Wilson, and her grandparents Walton and Marguerite Fulton and Nell and Sam Ables of Ackerman, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org/donate.

The family of Angela would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to so many who have made this journey over the years a bearable experience: Dr. Michael Ard and staff, Winston Medical Center, Dr. Jiahuai Tan of Starkville Oncology associated with North Mississippi Medical Center, Tabor Drugs, Dr. Booser and Dr. Majd of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, as well as numerous other medical professionals. Also, the family would like to thank their family, friends, and the many churches for their outpouring of love, prayers, and support throughout these seven years as Angela and her family battled her illness.
