James Kenneth Long, age 84 of Weir, MS, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 in Ackerman, MS.
Ken was born to J.K. and Madge Long on November 18, 1937, at an army hospital in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Morton High School in 1955 and was united in marriage to Kay Wilson on June 3, 1972.
Ken worked in several different states before retiring in 1999 and moving to Brandon, MS. He and his wife began traveling in their motor home, and while traveling through Arizona, he suffered a heart attack. He and Kay remained in Arizona for the rest of the winter, and continued to return to Mesa, AZ for the coming winters. He eventually became pastor at Aztec Church in Aztec RV Resort for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, November 22, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 4111 Highway 80 East, Pearl, MS.
Ken is survived by his wife, Kay(Wilson) Long; 1 daughter, Libby(Glen, Sr.) Beard of Weir, MS; 1 son, Kenny(Linda) Long of Raymond, MS; 3 brothers, Arthur Douglas(Martha) Long of Hurst, TX, Billy Paul(Joy) Long of Benton Harbor, MI, and Ralph Long of Dallas, TX; 2 sisters, Sarah(Dennis) Kohlbrecher of El Dorado, AR, and Patricia(Frank) Strohschein of Grand Prairie, TX; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
