Shelby Jean Dalton, 83, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, October 22 at Clarkson Baptist Church in Webster County with Bro. Rob Faulk and Bro. Trent Jaudon officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Clarkson Cemetery.
Shelby Jean was born November 16, 1937. She was a member of Clarkson Baptist Church. Shelby Jean loved working in her yard and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and Scrabble was a family favorite.
Shelby Jean is survived by her son Gregory Scott Dalton and wife Tammy of Louisville, her sister Sandra Collins of Knoxville, Tennessee, and son-in-law Alan Wright of Little Rock, Arkansas. One of her greatest joys was being “Mamaw Shelby” to her five grandchildren: Tyler (Chandler) Dalton, Lauren Dalton (Chandler Foster), Hannah Dalton, Craig Henley, and Jason Henley; three great-granddaughters Mari Scott Dalton, Karlie Sloan (Cody) Hatcher, and Cameron Henley; and one great-great-granddaughter Mila Kate Hatcher. Shelby Jean also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Thomas Dalton, two daughters Judith Wright and Teresa Henley, her parents Inez and Charlie McCluskey, Durwood Young and her sister Loretta Reed.
Serving as pallbearers are Tyler Dalton, Allen Wright, George Hightower, Chandler Foster, Cody Hatcher, and Shane Stallings. Memorials in honor of Shelby Jean may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital online at www.stjude.org/donate.
