Kent Gravett, born June 10, 1938, peacefully passed away at his home in Louisville, MS on July 10, 2021, as a result of heart problems. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca, his sons Clay and Miles, granddaughter Nattiya ('KK') and grandson Oliver ('Ollie').
Kent received a BS in Theatre from Northwestern University, an MA in Directing from University of Iowa and a PhD in Theatre History, Theory and Criticism from New York University. He spent most of his working life as a teacher, and participated in around 200 theatre productions as an actor and director. The highlight of his professional career was a Fulbright Grant to teach and work at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Kent loved so many things; traveling with his two sons to Mt. Everest was one of the best times of his life. He loved music, especially the Hollywood Bowl and the LA Symphony. He loved old movies, and he loved his dogs Biscuit and Roxie, who remained by his side until the end. Kent loved everything Kentucky! He loved his family, he loved the arts, and most importantly, he loved the Lord!
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Lexington, KY.
