Thomas Gordon Wekenman, PhD-psychologist

Thomas Wekenman passed away at his home on Tuck Wilkes Road on Saturday, February 3rd. A memorial service celebrating his life will be Wednesday, February 7, 11:00 a.m., at Noxapater United Methodist Church, the Reverend Jeff Walton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.


He was a man of peace who passed in peace.

Thomas Gordon Wekenman was born in Michigan on May 18, 1948 to Richard William Wekenman and Florence Marie Kidder Wekenman. He was the second of three boys. He is predeceased by his father, mother, and his older brother, Mike.

Dr. Wekenman, a psychologist, believed in the importance of education. He held degrees from Michigan State University, University of South Florida, Nova University, and Lacrosse University. His career as a psychologist was in Florida, Mississippi, and Alaska, where he also has a home. Tom was a U.S Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was the owner and luthier of Ruby Ridge Stringed Instruments, enjoying crafting dobroes, banjoes, and dulcimers.

Tom cared deeply for his family. His wife, Gayle; his daughter Adria Wilkes Ellington, her husband Robert and children Sam Wilkes, Thomas Anthony, and Sebastian James; his son Jacob Alan and his child Levi Alan, all of Noxapater, his brother Rick of Palouse, Washington; his nephews Jason and Aaron Wekenman and their children Chelsey, Kendra, and Madeline, all of Michigan.

As a member of Noxapater United Methodist Church, and a strong advocate of education, Tom’s memory will be most honored by any memorial contributions going to the NUMC scholarship fund.
