Dot was born in Winston County on June 23, 1933, to William Alex and Verna Taylor Sinclair. She was a member of Poplar Flat Baptist Church of Louisville. She was employed by Meridian Production Credit Association and Farmer’s Home Administration for over 40 years. After retirement from Farmer’s Home, she worked for Louisville Medical Supply.

Dot loved to decorate! She was a good cook, and loved flowers and her yard. Her pet chicken, Biddy, and her small horses were a joy to her the last few years. Spending time with Jack and all of the extended family was fun to her. Dot loved sitting on her sun porch watching the red birds and the beautiful sunsets at Sulphur Springs.

Dot is survived by her husband, Jack Mitchell; her daughters, Jayn Hathorn Duncan and her husband, Maurice, of West Point, Mississippi; and Susan Hathorn of Louisville; Jennifer Higgason and husband, Allen Frank, of Daleville, Mississippi; and son David Mitchell of Louisville; and her sister, Sue Goodson, and her husband, Jeff, of Henderson, Texas; as well as four sisters-in-law, Brenda Sinclair, Dale Sinclair, and Mary Mitchell all of Louisville; and Jeanie Johnson of California. She was “Granny Dot’ to her grandchildren: Britni Nowell and husband, Lucas of Louisville; Justin Cain of Clinton, Mississippi; Jake Higgason of Jacksonville, Florida; Megg Douglas and husband, Kindal, of Daleville; Lesli Jayne Quinn and husband, Will, of Louisville; Kayla Duncan of West Point; Dawson Mitchell of Louisville; and Will Higgason of Daleville. Granny Dot loved great-grands, Peyton and Bradyn Nowell and was looking forward to the birth of another great-grandchild in September. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James M. “Jimbo” Hathorn, Jr.; and five brothers: Terrell, Norman, Clayton, Raymond and Ralph Sinclair.

Serving as pallbearers are Don Jackson, Dawson Mitchell, Lucas Nowell, Will Quinn, Brad Sinclair, and Steve Sinclair. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Monday Morning Breakfast Men’s Club. Memorial contributions in honor of Dot may be given to Poplar Flat Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 684, Louisville, MS 39339 or to the charity of your choice.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation of the excellent care given to Dot by Sta-Home Hospice and two special caregivers, Beverly Britt and Peggy Maycock.
