Thomas E. Madison

Thomas E. Madison, 67, of Coeur d’Alene, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July
14, 2017, in his Coeur d’Alene home. The son of John and Shirley Madison, Tom was born Dec. 19, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minn. He grew up in Bloomington, Minn., with his three brothers and three sisters.

Tom enlisted in the U.S. Marines on July 27, 1967, at the age of 17. He served his country in Vietnam at Dong Ha from 1967-1969. After leaving the military, Tom moved to Coeur d’Alene where he gave his life to Christ on July 27, 1971. Shortly after, he met his wife, Connie, at the Antioch Coffeehouse and they were married on Feb. 16, 1974.

Tom and Connie settled in Dalton Gardens, with Tom building their first home on their acre of land. Tom spent many hours cultivating an orchard, gardening and over his lifetime built three homes. After 13 years of working the green chain at Potlatch-Rutledge Mill in Coeur d’Alene, Tom returned to school and became an RN. He worked for more than 25 years as an ICU nurse. Tom was a family man and loved raising his three children with Connie. He was deeply committed to Christ and delighted in worshiping with his church family. He was — kind, creative, patient, practical, productive, witty, honest and always faithful.

Tom is survived by his wife, Connie; children Zachary and Jessica Madison, and granddaughter Mary Grace of Louisville, Miss.; Jeff and Amy Volz of Coeur d’Alene; and Leah Madison of Coeur d’Alene; sisters Joyce Wood, Deborah Kastner and Rebecca Madison Merrill; and brothers Alan Madison and Bradley Madison.
