Kathryn "Kay" Underwood

Mrs. Kathryn “Kay” Groves Underwood, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Nowell Massey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Frazier, Jr. and Rev. Eddie Agnew officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, Kentucky, on Sunday, July 9, 2017.

Kay was born October 21, 1936, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Corum “Doc” and Lindell Odell Evans. She was a member of River of Life Church; she loved working in her flower beds and gardening and the neighborhood cats; but most importantly she loved and was totally devoted to the Lord.

Mrs. Underwood is survived by her husband of 12 years, Fred Underwood of Louisville, Mississippi; two daughters, Angela Felker (Dick) of Henderson, Kentucky; and Marti Groves (Tony) of Springfield, Missouri; and two sons, Michael Groves and wife, Kathy, of Robards, Kentucky; and Richard Groves and wife, Angela, of Winchester, Tennessee. Also left behind to mourn her passing is a step-daughter, Crystal Henderson and husband, Bob, of Williams, Indiana; and three step-sons, Freddie Underwood and wife, Beverly; Flint Underwood and wife, Kathy; and Eddie Underwood and wife, Paula, all of Bedford, Indiana. One of her greatest joys was being “NanNaw”, “Granny”, or “Grandma” to a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Rita Peyton and husband, Larry; and Kennda Melick and husband, Owen; and a brother, Corum Evans. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Groves; her parents; two brothers, Wayne Evans and James Ivan Evans; and two sisters, Becky Austin and Delores Nunley.

Memorial contributions in honor of Mrs. Underwood may be given to River of Life Church, P. O. Box 695, Louisville, MS 39339.
