Willie Davis Sloan


Willie Davis Sloan, 69, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 12, 2016, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Blanchard officiating. Interment will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.



Willie was born May 16, 1947, to John Davis and Vada Harris Sloan. He was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church, and was self-employed as a welder. He was also a farmer and raised registered Black Angus cattle. During the Vietnam War, he answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army.

Willie is survived by his wife of 20 years, Wendy Elam Sloan of Louisville; his daughter, Dixi Kohrs and husband, Scott, of Lawton, Oklahoma; his son, J. R. Sloan and wife, Angela, also of Louisville; and his brother Jerry Sloan and wife, Kathleen, of Madison, Mississippi. He enjoyed being “PawPaw” to his grandchildren, Chance Kohrs and Kristian Kreiger and husband, Aaron. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Archie Sloan.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ty Fulton, Scott Kohrs, J. C. Lee, Kenneth Oday, Clyde Prisock, and J. R. Sloan. Memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Willie may be given to Yellow Creek Baptist Church, c/o Teresa Prisock, 1215 Mill Creek Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
