Susie was born October 25, 1920, to Jim Files and Atha Chandler Files. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church, and she was a self-employed business owner. She was famously known for her caramel cakes which led to her being known as the “cake lady”. She dearly loved her family and her church family at Friendship, and in return, was loved by everyone. She enjoyed cooking for those working at the church whether it was Vacation Bible School or a men’s workday; she loved to serve others.

Susie is survived by her five children: Mickey Jones of New Orleans, Louisiana; Judy Johnston and husband, Buddy, of Sturgis, Mississippi; Rodney Jones and wife, Marilyn, of Perdido Key, Florida; Barbara Shurden and husband, Hugh, of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and Cathy White and husband, Bernie, of Starkville, Mississippi; and by her sister, Ruby White of Athens, Alabama. One of her greatest joys was being “Mama Sue” to seven granddaughters: Jennifer Garner and husband, Stacy; Amber Williamson and husband, Charlie; Jorga Wilson and husband, Chris; Erin Minc and husband, David; Brittany Nason and husband, Tri; Mary Grace Koehn and husband, Chris; and Amelie-Jones. She also enjoyed her seven great-grandchildren: Trey Williamson; Brayleigh Williamson; Mary Falon Wilson; Eli Smith; Carson Minc; Micah Nason; and Cooper Koehn. Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Jones; her parents; her brother, James Files; and her sister, Helen Ansley.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stacy Garner, Chris Koehn, David Minc, Tri Nason, Charlie Williamson, and Chris Wilson. Memorials may be given to McClelland Cemetery Fund, c/o Martha Lindsey, Craig Springs Road, Sturgis, MS 39769.
