Harold Weaver

Harold R. Weaver, 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, Mississippi.  Visitation will be on Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi.  A service to celebrate his life will be Sunday, July 24, 2016, at 4 p.m. in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Rook officiating.  Interment will follow in Vernon Baptist Cemetery also known as “Dripping Springs Cemetery” in Kemper County with Rev. Dewayne Kelsey officiating.


Harold was born October 11, 1939, to Percy T. Weaver and Jessie Mae Ray Weaver.  He was a member of Crystal Ridge Baptist Church.  He answered the call of his country by actively serving in the United States Navy for 23 years and in the Reserve Forces for 7 additional years.   After his military retirement, he served as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor for five prisons throughout Mississippi.  His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, and electrical work.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Betty Weaver, of Louisville; two daughters, Darlene Johnson of Brooklyn, Wisconsin; and Tammy Pierce and husband, Charles, of Pearl, Mississippi.  He is also survived by three sons, Harold R. Weaver, Jr. and wife, Janet, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Ricky Jamison and wife, Glynda, of Brandon, Mississippi; and Mike Jamison and wife, Denise, of Walnut Grove, Mississippi; and one brother, Don Weaver and wife, Jin, of Globe, Arizona.  One of his greatest joys was being “Paw Paw or Poppa Bear” to his six grandchildren:  Lee Jamison; Shannon Jamison; Brandon Harkins and wife, Kerri; Ashley Pierce and husband, Cody; Niki Pierce; and Hailey Jamison.  Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Ralph Weaver.    

Serving as pallbearers will be Dacey Ferguson, Ethan Ferguson, Jerry Ferguson, Brandon Harkins, Lee Jamison, and Robbie Lee.  Honorary pallbearers are Speedy Calvert, Harry Carwell, Gene Foster, Donnie Hisaw, Mike Robertson, and Frank Rogers, Jr.   Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P.
