Walterine “Renie” Nowell

Walterine “Renie” Nowell, 87, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Choctaw County Medical Center in Ackerman, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. Jason Gross officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery.

Ms. Nowell was born November 10, 1928, to John and Nancy Rogers Reed. She was a member of Middleton Methodist Church.

Renie is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Russell and husband, John, of Starkville, Mississippi; and Sue Ellen Ellzey and husband, Buddy, of Madison, Mississippi; two sons, Harry Nowell, Jr. and wife, Carol; and Jeff Nowell and wife, Deborah, all of Louisville; and her special friend, Larry Bryan. One of her greatest joys was being “Nanny” to nine grandchildren: Natalie Eaves, Lucas Nowell, Shane Russell, Josh Winstead, Marcy Lee and husband, Toby; Eric Nowell, Madison Nowell, Logan Ellzey, and Nolan Ellzey. Also left to mourn her passing is eight great-grandchildren: J. D. Eaves, Joy Paige Eaves, Peyton Nowell, Bradyn Nowell, Garrett Miles, Hayley and Sydney Rogers, and Braxton Nowell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and ten siblings.

Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Ellzey, Garrett Miles, Eric Nowell, Lucas Nowell, Shane Russell, and Josh Winstead. Honorary pallbearer will be Nolan Ellzey.

 Memorials may be given to The Mississippi Children’s Cancer Clinic, Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2500 N. State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.
