Bobbye Cole

Bobbye Roberson Cole, age 90, was surrounded by her family as she was called home to her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the Sunshine Care Center in Pontotoc, Mississippi. Born on June 17, 1925, in Louisville, Mississippi, to Melvin and Lula Bell (Coleman) Roberson, she graduated from Louisville High School and attended Draughon’s Business College in Jackson, Mississippi, for one year until her daddy told her she had been away from home long enough and it was time to move back.

In 1946, she married Woodrow Cole from Philadelphia, Mississippi, and they made their home in Louisville. Bobbye worked hard throughout her life to support her family. Many couples decorated their home with furniture she helped them choose while she worked at Roger’s Furniture Company and Sonny’s Furniture Company. Later in life, she earned her insurance license and many clients relied on her plain spoken and honest approach to helping them with their insurance needs.

Bobbye was well-known for her deep love for her family and her church, Evergreen Baptist. She was not afraid to speak her mind and would not hesitate to tell you what she thought about a subject. Her greatest heartbreak was losing both of her children to cancer, but she devoted herself to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bobbye is survived by her grandchildren Shannon Cole and wife Alicia of Louisville; Amy Collins Ferguson and husband Lane of Tupelo; Daniel Cole of Louisville; and Carla Collins Elkins and husband Lance of Clarksville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Josh Ferguson, Savannah Cole, Samuel Cole, Collin Ferguson, Alexandra Cole, Allyssa Ferguson, Will Elkins, and Parker Elkins. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Paula Cole of Louisville, son-in-law Laverne Collins and his wife Patricia of Tupelo, brother-in-law Morris Massey of Louisville, and sister-in-law Dorothy Cole Sanders of Titusville, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children Sammie Roberson Cole and Kathy Carol Cole Collins, and sister Sara Roberson Massey.

Serving as pallbearers are Lane Ferguson, Josh Ferguson, Samuel Cole, Collin Ferguson, Kevin McCool, and Chris Childs.
