James Culberson, 65, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Horton officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater.
Mr. Culberson was born on September 10, 1948, to Mary White Culberson and James Clifton Culberson. He was a retired truck driver and a lifetime member of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA).
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Charlotte Culberson, of Noxapater; his daughter, Michelle Trevino and husband, Joe, of Beeville, Texas; and his son, Chris Davis and wife, Natalie, of San Marcos, Texas. Mr. Culberson has five grandchildren: Morgan Davis, Sterling Davis, Tucker Cisco, Amber Nicole Clark, and Novalen Trevino. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Ann Faulkner, of Columbus, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his sons, James Anthony Culberson and Samuel Lewis Culberson; his parents; and his brother-in-law, Dempsey Faulkner.
Honorary pallbearers will be L. D. Kelley, Jr; Earl Yates; and “Buzz” Soule. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund.
