Mr. Royce T. Womble, 88, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 20th, at Good Hope Baptist Church, with Rev. Jason Gross officiating. Interment will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home.
Mr. Womble was born February 10, 1925, in Louisville, MS. He was retired as chief engineer on a towboat on the Mississippi River. He lived in Memphis for 33 years, and moved back to Winston County in 1987. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beryl Holton Womble of Louisville; two daughters, Beverly Parker of Houston, TX, and Deborah Myers of Park City, Utah; a sister, Bonnie (Elmer) Durden of Pascagoula, MS; a brother, Wallace (Doris) Womble of Pascagoula, MS; and a granddaughter, Meredith Marie (Christian) Christensen.
